General Information
Climate
The average maximum temperature during March and April is 31 Degrees Celsius and the average rainfall is 102.6mm.
In the Northern Territory climate it is important to consume adequate amounts of water to prevent dehydration. People should drink at least 2 litres of water each day.
For protection from the sun, travellers to Darwin should wear a hat, sunglasses and SPF 30+ sunscreen when outdoors.
The Territory is home to mosquitoes and other biting insects so a reliable insect repellent will make your stay more comfortable.
Child Care
Please note that no official arrangements have been made for child care during the Congress. Please check with the hotel you are staying at who may be able to assist you further with babysitting services during your stay.

All communication with registered delegates will be by email wherever an email address is provided, or by fax. If you register and do not receive a confirmation either by email or fax within 5 working days please contact the Congress Secretariat EECW by phone on (08) 9389 1488 or email info@eecw.com.au.
Dress Code
The dress code throughout the Congress will be smart casual.
Insurance
Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Congress. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Congress, or through cancellation of the Congress itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. Neither the Congress Secretariat nor the Organising Committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline in regard to this matter.
Meals
All tea breaks and lunches will be served amongst the Congress exhibition. The Congress Organisers recognise that some delegates may have special dietary needs. Please advise the Congress Secretariat either via the registration form or in writing should you wish for them to make alternative arrangements on your behalf.
Privacy Statement
In registering for PIA National Congress 2009, your relevant details may be incorporated into a delegate list for the benefit of all delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, EECW Pty Ltd and other parties directly related to the Congress. Should you wish for your details not to be included in this list, please tick the privacy requested box on the registration form.
Smoking Policy
The Darwin Convention Centre has a no smoking policy. This policy also applies to the majority of restaurants, bars and shopping centres in Darwin.
Visas
International visitors to Australia require a Visa or an electronic travel authority. It is your responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and complete before you commence your journey. Information on obtaining visas or ETA's can be found on the web site - www.eta.immi.gov.au
Visitors To Darwin
Darwin International Airport is the gateway to the Northern Territory. The Airport Shuttle bus travels between the airport and Darwin city accommodation regularly throughout the day and night. Tickets can be purchased in the baggage reclaim hall and are approximately AUD$18.00 return. Hire cars and taxis are readily available with a taxi fare to Darwin city costing approximately AUD$30.00.
